Effects of Quality Practice on a Compassion Cultivation Training: Somatic and Imagery Levels of Analysis

Abstract Objectives Compassion-based interventions (CBIs) are effective in promoting mental health. However, the mechanisms through which CBIs produce these positive outcomes not fully known. The amount of meditation practice has been associated with but role quality yet explored. Thus, addition to examining contribution Compassion Practice Quality Scale (CPQS) predicting main a CBI (compassion cultivation training), current study explored scale’s construct validity and sensitivity change. Methods Data were drawn from pretest–posttest design ( n = 74), compassion quality, self-compassion, negative difficulties emotion regulation, body awareness assessed. Results CPQS was found be valid reliable measure, showing differences. Overall, baseline scores positively self-compassion negatively regulation. Moreover, explained significant variance (ΔR2 .18, Δ F (4, 31) 2.69, p .049), after controlling for previous experience, frequency formal during CBI. Conclusions findings confirm significance usefulness research. Future studies should continue investigate psychometric properties CPQS, describing daily or weekly evolution developing specific pedagogical strategies foster within CBIs.
